Counselling

Jane Fior

Jane is the current director of The Cancer Counselling Trust. She is one of the founders of the charity, having previously worked as a member of the Cancerbackup counselling team. Over the ten years since CCT was established, as well as being part of the therapeutic team, she has worked as a fundraiser, done outreach work in connection with Department of Health funding to target areas of deprivation in the UK and helped organize the CCT specialist training programme.

Her original training was in Integrative Psychosynthesis but her particular interest has always been in the support of cancer patients and their families.

“I feel very proud of the way that The Cancer Counselling Trust has developed. Our aim has been to create a professional but friendly environment where people who contact us know that they are appreciated as individuals. We genuinely welcome feedback from our clients and strive all the time to improve our service and extend our capacity to offer support to people affected by cancer at any stage of the disease.

Dilys Stinson

Dilys is a Founder Member of The Cancer Counselling Trust, having worked as both a volunteer and paid staff member at Cancerbackup previously.

She is one of the CCT counsellors. In 2000 she began to job-share the role of Counselling Service Coordinator, and continues in that role.

Dilys trained in Integrative Psychosysthesis, and has had a private practice since 1997. She has a background in Sociology, and Textiles. She is an accredited counsellor with AHPP, and is registered with the UKCP.

"I love working for CCT. We are a team that work very well together, and the work feels very meaningful. We are now in beautiful purpose-built rooms in Wakley st., and this means we will be able to expand the service we can provide. Being part of the group that set up CCT has meant that I have been involved in lots of things that have been really interesting and challenging, outside of any previous experience. "

Kate Gowshall

Kate joined the team as Counselling Coordinator in May 2008.

Kate worked as a Senior Cancer Nurse for many years, and has a Masters degree in cancer nursing from University of Surrey.

Following a career break, to bring up her family, she retrained as a counsellor, gaining a Masters Degree from Birkbeck College, London University.

" I find working for CCT enjoyable and fulfilling. The small team allows excellent working relationships, and we share a passion to deliver a service to a very high standard. I think we achieve this. My job satisfaction comes from seeing that we clearly help people affected by cancer in many different ways."
