Counselling

We believe that all sections of the community have the right to a dedicated professional cancer counselling service.

This year we've managed to make sure that everyone can access a free and flexible service with essential help delivered quickly.

This has been an exceptional year for the Cancer Counselling Trust, investing in more outreach work to areas of isolation and deprivation in the UK than ever before, to ensure no one should have to experience the anxiety of cancer alone.

Thanks to the Cancer Counselling Trust's team of qualified specialist psychotherapists and counsellors we have provided support for a record number of clients over the last year and have funded extended counselling for those with terminal cancer. None of these achievements would have been possible without the help of our fundraisers and individual donors. Using the money as efficiently as possible has maximised the direct benefit to clients.

We have helped with all aspects of cancer, from diagnosis to treatment, post-treatment, recurrences and palliative care. We have supported people concerned for their children with regard to a cancer diagnosis and have offered one off crisis sessions to all.

In the coming year we will be running our first cancer counselling course, to help counsellors and psychotherapists develop their client skills when working with the impact of cancer. We are also hoping to further our national work, not only over the telephone, but also with face to face support. Telephone support and signposting to other resources have greatly increased over the last year and we want to ensure callers are effectively responded to by increasing the number of our staff who help in this way.

Thank you to everyone who has given support to CCT. WIthout those who provide the vital back-up required, none of the past, and it is to be hoped, future achievements would be possible.
