Starting in October 2008 we are running a twelve day course in Cancer Counselling for qualified psychotherapists and counsellors. Details are as follows:
Module 1: (October 11th/12th) - The impact of a cancer diagnosis on the client and the counsellor.
Module 2: (November 8th/9th) - The medical aspects of diagnosis and treatment and the role of complementary therapies.
Module 3: (December 6th/7th) - The practice of specialist cancer counselling.
Module 4: (January 10th/11th) - Life after diagnosis, a systemic approach.
Module 5: (February 7th/8th) - Working with a terminal diagnosis, death and dying.
Module 6: (March 7th/8th) - When the treatment is over.
Open forum - case presentations and discussion with CCT team.
The training is provided by leading oncologists and psychotherapists who all work with cancer patients and their families. They include Professor Karol Sikora, Dr Friedrich Staebler, Jenny Altschuler, Alice Bulman, Glenda Fredman, Shelley Gurney, Jonathan Hartley and Marianne Fitzgerald Klein.
The cost is £950 for individuals and £1,150 for organisations.

The Cancer Counselling Trust offers a series of free, confidential sessions, both face to face and over the phone to anyone affected by a cancer diagnosis. You do not need a doctor’s referral and we try to keep waiting times to a minimum.
