35 year old patient with breast cancer:

"I can't emphasise enough how wonderful it was - not only that it exists at all, and free, and for several weeks and by phone as well as face to face, but also that the counsellor with whom I was matched was so right for me".

51 year old female relative of a colon cancer patient:

"The telephone counselling was amazing. I had doubts initially because I didn't think I could relate or open up to someone on the other end of the phone, some 280 miles away. I can imagine that other people in a similar desperate situation as I was might dismiss the idea out of hand, fearing that it would be a waste of time and precious energy. I very nearly did that and if I had, I would have missed out on the most valuable experience at the very time I needed it most. I now have a full set of coping tools in my newly found tool box. It had been there, waiting, all of my adult life but was hidden beneath the layers of my beliefs and habits. My counsellor helped me find my way through the muddle of emotions, even though my son still has cancer, I now feel more able to cope".

50 year old female friend of a lung cancer paitent:

"Straightforward, easy to access, unbureacratic, a brilliant resource - thank you for your work and support"

The Cancer Counselling Trust offers a series of free, confidential sessions, both face to face and over the phone to anyone affected by a cancer diagnosis. You do not need a doctor’s referral and we try to keep waiting times to a minimum.
